Many would have us believe…

I saw a picture that was really disturbing today. It was a picture of what I guess was one of Kanye’s proposed artwork for his album cover.

The list of everything wrong with it was horrifying and from other articles I’ve read, the songs contained on this album are even worse. If Kanye wants to spread the message about Christ, he should be less elusive and straightforward. God doesn’t need our help in dressing up His Word for others to bob their heads to it and accept it. Yet and still Kanye has had interviews in which he has proclaimed that the only reason he is called “Yeezus” is because someone else gave him the name (so Satan stopped using ppl?) so this is why he “ran with it”. So he also gives an explanation of some of his lyrics  Does the Bible not tell us to not think more highly of ourselves than we ought? Yet Kanye decides that he can put himself on a pedestal somewhere near Jesus the Christ?

“I just talked to Jesus
He said ‘what up Yeezus? ‘
I said “shit I’m chilling
Trying to stack these millions”
I know he the most high
But I am a close high
Mi casa es su casa
That’s that cosa nostra
I am a god
I am a god
I am a god”

(lyrics from a song on this album entitled I am a god) (Revelation 3:17)

Kanye has sacrificed nothing for no one in the name of actual love. The fact is that God tells us  One person commented on the picture “didn’t Jesus save him for a reason?” Jesus wasn’t necessarily the one who saved Kanye from imminent death years ago, think about it, who put him in that position? The devil would definitely benefit from having someone like Kanye on his side. Hip hop is not the avenue for God to get his message out. You can’t talk blessings and curses out of the same mouth and think that God will honor your filth  (James 3:10). So if Kanye wants to say that he is out to promote the goodness of our Lord and Savior then he has to give up the worldly fame and get into gospel or Christian Alternative but he cannot have it both ways. It just doesn’t work that way. For even Jesus tells us that if we are lukewarm, he will spew us out and proclaim that He never knew us. So why is it that someone like Kanye who is talking out of both sides of his neck going to be saved? (Revelation 3:15-16) I am not judging him (I Cor. 5:11-13) and saying that his heart won’t change, but you can’t live in this world and of this world and think that you aren’t being lukewarm. If Kanye is on fire for Christ then he should make it known. Also, if he is truly a Christian and in the church (not just on major hokidays) then it is the duty of his fellow brothers and sister s to judge him not to condemnation but to righteousness, that his soul might too be saved. For even Jesus tells us that He came not to judge the world but that we might be saved (John 12:46-50).

Condoning the things that he does… #1, having no respect for the authority and Lordship of Jesus by acknowledging and then feigning ignorance of the fact that naming himself “Yeezus” is straight up disrespectful; #2, even posing for that picture, even if it was just a proposed album cover then he should know better than to use any implication if Satan or demonic spirits being there; #3, having a song where you are screaming “I am a god” is NOT okay. These are just a few of the issues that Kanye has in his proclamation of being a Jesus follower. And of course, in the comments for this photo, there were plenty of Kanye followers who said “I’m not religious, but” and then they went on to explain why a Christian should be applauding Kanye for his wonderful contribution to our cause. And of course, they went on to claim how his emulating Jesus (in the most disrespectful of ways) is what The Word tells us to do. If Kanye were really trying to emulate Christ then he would acknowledge the fact that the Word also says, forsake not the assembly of the brethren (Heb 10:25), Do not conform to this world (Romans 12), also not having all of the profanities come from his mouth would be a plus (Matt 15:11, James 3:6-18).

It is really disheartening when you witness the conformation of Christians to the world and yet they do not see it as such. They do not recognize their own shortcomings and then they raise these worldly artists up to a level that suggests that they can even demonstrate a millionth of the love of the Most High. Jesus gave until it hurt. He gave until He had no more to give. And they want me to clap my hands for Kanye who has more than enough and yet and still I couldn’t tell you one philanthropic mission he has ever participated in??!!! Jesus did not go around tooting His own horn about anything He did for the people, but His good works and The Good News (Gospel) were spread by the people themselves. Nothing that Kanye has done has even warranted much more than ridicule and a shaking of the head because he does it all for the glitz and glam. But even then, I Corinthians 13 tells us that even if you gave all that you had and your body to be burned as a martyr but have not love, it profits you nothing. Kanye hasn’t shown love, if he has then let him give a very public apology and reparations to Taylor Swift whom he publicly embarrassed. You get no kudos for being yourself in this world. You only get kudos for letting Christ live through you, and I haven’t seen anyone worthy of those kudos in this generation. So if you want to do the Kingdom of God a favor, go have a seat Mr. Kanye and do your good tidings in secret. Let someone else toot your metaphorical horn. And if you want to keep serving Satan, then by all means, do your duty. But don’t do it with the false premise of serving a good and mighty God. You and your master can challenge The Almighty but you shall not win. He is The Creator, Y’all are just some Creations, He’s got a place for those who choose not to choose Him.
